Cohorts and drop-ins
Groundwork runs in cohort blocks — each week builds on the last, so you move from raw idea through to a business that's actually set up, with the paperwork done and you knowing what you owe. Each cohort runs for five weeks straight.
New cohorts start regularly. If you're joining mid-cycle or you only need help with one piece — say, just the tax bit or just pricing — you can drop into any single session too. Either way, the same mentor is there, the same small group, the same plain-spoken walk-through.
Sessions and times
All sessions run online. Pick what fits your week, or commit to all five and move through the whole journey together.
Business Foundations & Idea Mapping
Start here. We map out what you do, who pays for it, and what actually needs to happen to get from your trade to a real business.
Admin & Paperwork Made Simple
The stuff nobody likes but everyone needs: business names, legal structures, insurance, contracts. We make it matter-of-fact, not mystifying.
Tax & IRD Basics for New Traders
Tax isn't complicated once someone shows you. We walk through GST (if you register), what the IRD actually wants from you, and how to keep records that don't give you a headache.
Funding, Loans & Investors 101
What money is actually available to grow your business. We cover bank loans, government schemes, angel investors, and what each one actually costs you.
Confidence & Pricing Your Work
Most skilled tradespeople underprice. We walk through how to know what you're actually worth and how to say it without apologising.
Mentor check-ins
Alongside group sessions, we run short one-to-one slots midweek. If you need help with your own paperwork, a specific tax question, or talking through your pricing — thirty minutes with a mentor, bookable in limited slots each week. These fill quickly.
Places are kept small on purpose
Each group caps at a size where nobody gets lost in the crowd, where everyone gets to ask their own question, and where the mentor actually knows who you are. That's why places run out.
The only way to secure a spot — whether it's one session or the full cohort — is through the Contact page. Tell us what you need, when you want to join, and we'll confirm your place and send you the link.
